Ok, I do know how to reformat and such, but I am having a big dilenma. I have more than 5gb of music on my comp and I dont want to delete those. Anyone have an idea of what I can do so save the songs ?

I was thinking of backing it up as a data file onto a DVD.

    Any other suggestions ?

With blank dvd's getting cheaper all the time, why not?
Or backup to another computer across a network.

I put my mp3s on cd-r so they will play in my car. Then a copy goes to a network drive for easier access. If I happen to lose that drive, meh.... They're still on cd.

backing up onto dvds is the cheapest option if you already have a dvd burner, another option is to get an external hdd, i personally prefer this as i reformat regularly and it saves time compared to burning a set of dvds per reformat

I would recommend a 80GB external HD that way you can keep saving things on it without any worry.

DVD's take a while to burn while HD's are much faster. I have one and I prefer it when I reformat.

You can also backup it on your MP3 Player? Depending on which one you have and also what capacity it has.

    Option1: (Fastest) :D
With prices dropping radicly, I suggest buy a external harddrive, it will also be handy for future needs!

    Option2: (Medium-Fast) :)
Computer to computer (you can also use Firewire cable to tansfer data, very fast)

    Option3: (Slow)
    DVDs!

Or if you look at it like I do this would translate:

    Option1: (Most expensive!) :(
    Buy an external hard drive.

Option2: (Possible Free! if you have access to another PC) :D
Computer to computer (you can also use Firewire cable to transfer data, very fast)

    Option3: (VERY cheap!) :)
    DVDs!

    ;)
