My rant/idea:
I am frustrated by the fact that, depending on how I *get* to the Dell system customization process (e.g. through "as advertised," "savings spotlight," or simply various entry points to the configuration process of the SAME computer), I get DIFFERENT configuration options. Depending on how I get to the customization screen I can get different CPU options, RAM options, hard disk options, graphics options...and of course, different PRICES.
I think there should just be ONE customization process for each model.

it's not like it never occurred to Dell or that there never used to be one process before, they do it on purpose to sell as much as possible and keep prices within a certain range. and i'm not clicking your malware, revenue generator, pyramid scheme link.

I agree that it's intentional, but I'm asking them to consider changing it.

When I first started ordering by Web for computers, from big companies, I was utterly frustrated, just like you about never being able to find the config I was on the previous night!
I learned through time that there is always a difference between the same laptop, but being ordered through Home, Small Business and Corporate.
Each of these three different areas of each computer manufacturer offers different options by wide degrees and for good reason.
Then there is the difference between the different regions and Countries etc.
Make sure you order the M1330 from the same country, because USA and India and Europe offer completely different options.
The reason is, they get parts from different manufacturers in different parts of the world. There are different business deals made from these different places within Dell.
This is the way the corporate world operates. Dell USA is subjected to different laws than Dell Europe or Dell India, etc.
We want consistency, but there is no such thing available. We must do the best we can with good wisdom and discrimination on what we purchase.
Blessings if you waded through all that stuff!

Who cares how many different configuration option methods they offer. Obviously it's working for them and odds are they won't change something that works.
As Chetanji already mentioned, because Dell operates in so many markets, they're going to have to have numerous ways of doing business.
Threads like this continually remind me why I turn signatures off! -
to be fair i don't think she's talking about the differences between ordering from different countries or even between home and business. so i'm not even sure why the last two posters ever brought that up.

It's the way Dell does business. Don't like it, don't do business with Dell.
Problem solved.
