    I've been lurking here on these forums for the past week or two, doing some research for a laptop to suppliment my desktop when I'm away from home. The information found on these fourms are invaluable for those, like me, searching for the right laptop out there. After going through a couple iterations between Dell, HP, and Asus (the W3 and A8j taunt me still) I finally put down the plastic and bought a custom configured Inspiron E1505.

    The configuration is as follows:

    * 1.83GHz Duo Core
    * 1GB RAM
    * 256MB ATi x1400 video card
    * 15.4" WSXGA+ screen
    * Both the 65W and 85W battery (you get another battery for $30 instead of just getting the larger battery.. figured that to be a better value)
    * 60GB 5400rpm HD
    * 24x DVD/CD-RW drive

    Managed to get it all for a bit over $1k ($1080) after using one of those $450 off $1499+ coupons. One strange thing though, I could of sworn when I tried this a few weeks ago it was significantly more than what it had priced out today (about $200 more) because I'd be constantly be shooting for the $2000 mark to make use of the bigger $750 off $1999+ coupon. *shrug* For $1k, I'm figure I'll be more than happy with it!

    there you go, another success story for somebody finding these forums helpful. Very cool, I hope the e1505 works out for you, I think it will, and if you get the chance to stop back and help others in making a decision like you made then please share the love!

    You'd be a fool to buy any laptop without lurking here at this web site first.

    The community here is like no other, unbiased straight up points of view and people with a clue. Even when people here have a problem or a question it's asked with a degree of dignity and obvious common sense. When you have an answer in trying to help someone else with you don't have to spell it out for them word for word to the level of explaining things to a complete chimp.

    Just off the beaten path enough so that people with a clue find the website and the complete imbasuls seem to overlook it, I'm fine with that. Some people are just so dam stupid I can't take it. I'm not finding that here, it's people with their own experience they are willing to freely share and help with, or people willing to learn and just need a little help getting them pointed in the right direction, but without your having to hold their hand step by step.
