    Hello all!

Does anybody know where I can get the A03 BIOS for a 6400/E1505, as it's no longer on Dell's download or FTP site?

Or does somebody have the EXE file, MM061A03.EXE, and can e-mail it to me (please PM me for my e-mail address)?

I hope you can help. :)

Can I just run the EXE of an older BIOS from the desktop like normal, or do I have to copy it to CD and run it from bootup to regress properly (no floppy drive)?

You'll probably have to wait for the A03 to be available again on Dell's site. As for flashing back to an older version (i'm not sure if that is what you are asking), no you can't just run it and flashbackwards. I'm not 100% sure of what all it involves, but there are several sites that give details on how to flash backwards.

For BIOS FAQ's, I suggest looking at Bay Wolf's site.

Thank you SouthernGirl and mbushnaq00! NotebookReview.com forums are helpful as always. :)

After a number of searches I eventually found that FTP site too.

Did you downgrade yours from A07 to A03 in the end mbushnaq00?

    Thanks!

One last thing: Did you just download and double click the A03 executable to run it, like Dell advise for a BIOS flash on the their web site "Download it to the desktop, close all programs, double click icon, etc" or did you do it differently, like burn it to CD and then run it via boot up/DOS?

no just click the exe and follow the instructions no need for dos or to burn it on a cd.

I've successfully downgraded to A03, but after I did it I realised I couldn't remember if my 6400/E1505 shipped with A03 or A04. I think it was A03 because I'm pretty sure I downloaded A04 and never run it. I'm not certain though and I can't find any release notes for MM061A04.

Does anybody know what BIOS a 6400 purchased on 03 May 2006 would ship with?

    Ah ha! Not to worry:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=1437806&postcount=3

    :D

Ever since the first time I flashed my BIOS there is a screen that appears very quickly after the post screen, it has some words on it that I can't make out and a blue progress bar. I never noticed it pre-flash, it went straight from the post screen to the Windows XP loading screen, instead of this new screen in between.
