Do not install and/or update to iTunes 7.1.1.5. By doing so, your mute button and volume will not function properly if iTunes is running in the background unless you are highlighting/selected iTunes on your desktop.

    Known problems with iTunes 7.1.1.5:
Mute button does not mute when iTunes is playing in the background.
Volume button goes up/down 2 time instead of one.

Go to the site below to download any of the older version of iTune in order to get the mute/volume button to function properly.

For me, the problem occur on Xp recently and never knew why. When I installed Vista and the latest iTunes (7.1.15), the problem still occur. Then it hit me, I remember iTunes work flawlessly before with the media button and I search for an older version of iTune and proceeded to downgrade iTunes from 7.1.1.5 to 7.0.2. The mute and volume button began to function properly.

That's not a big issue IMO. It's definitely not important enough for me to downgrade to a less capable version.

To me, it's as annoying as Hell.

I'm back to the old version.

(The new version has a nice thing, that the next/previous/pause buttons work even when iTunes is not in focus. But for this alone I have used multi-plugin for a while).
