    E1705

Did a search and only found one thread--not applicable.

My new E1705 came straight from Dell with a somewhat warped case. Left front corner varies with temperature and humidity by either doing what it should by sitting levelly or raising up in the air. I hadn't even noticed until one day I had the machine at work and noticed a sheaf of papers slid all the way up under it--shouldn't do that I thought. Pressing on the corner of the machine and yes it is definitely warped.

Anyone else experience this? I know this machine is nowhere as solid as my beloved old Inspiron 1100 which was built like a tank. The E1705 seems to be of a much lighter weight material (still a hundred times better than that cheap plastice I saw on every other manufacturer's laptops, though.

I am thinking of just putting a couple of pieces of masking tape on the bumper at that corner and living with it. This problem seems to be causing additional noise with the dvd drive though as when I press down on that corner when burning a cd into the machine it becomes quieter.

    Thanks, guys.

I've not heard of this before and of course don't have that issue with my e1705. I'd definitely send it back, those issues could be symptomatic of something else too. You really should get it resolved.

Definetly call Dell about it. They will replace your system, and you should be able to keep your current system until your new system is ready. Generally with cases like this, dell will put a rush order on your new system, and you'll get it fairly quickly.

I've never heard of a case like this, but things do happen. Considering that this is a brand new laptop, I don't think you want to have problems with it as soon as it gets out of the box.
