I'm thinking of ordering a Vostro 1500.
Warranties included in my price are:
===========================
* 1 year limited hardware warranty with mail-in service (do i pay for shipping?)
* 1 year Dell automated PC tuneup
I spend $300 for warranties on my previous laptop (Compaq Presario) and it turned out to be an absolute waste. So, this time, I'm thinking of spending minimal on warranties. But, I've never owned a Dell before. So, can anyone recommend me what other warranties are a MUST?
I'm looking at the following:
* Accidental Damage Service
* Gold Technical Support
* Dell on Call

I usually just get the standard warranty on a Dell and wait for the class action lawsuits to settle to get the rest fixed.
-
Get complete care !! You can talk them into giving you a good deal on it
-
to me extended warranty is not worth $200, $150, $100, hell i wouldn't even spend $50 on a 3 year extended warranty.
-
I go for 3 years and find it worth it. Usually I can talk them into bumping me up by a year or so for free.
-
I had a laptop go bad after 3 and 1/2 years and they hooked me up with a new one. Dell's warrantys rock !
-
^^ same here
the rest of you are nuts, if I hadn't had a 3 year warranty my last laptop would be a paper weight -
I've read somewhere or other that the best bet is get whatever the 1 year standard is and then bargain with them when the year is nearly up (presuming you still have/want the machine).
-
bargain with them for what? free extended warranty?
does the 1-year limited hardware warranty cover battery? Its technically considered as "consumable item" and hence is unwarrantable .. right? -

Actually, it makes a great deal of sense to warranty a laptop for as long as you intend to use it.
-
I've got 4 years on mine..why not eh.. next gen xps for free potentially
-
you can upgrade your warranty later so just use it for a year and if you need more warranty get it

I've got an order that I placed for an Inspiron 1520 on 7/13. I didnt opt for warranty coverage or accidental damage protection or anything at the time. Now, I'm regretting it, a little. Would it be possible to add this at any time later? I definitely don't want to cancel and redo my order, and I'd like to be able to get competitive pricing.
Anyone know anything about this? Thanks in advance. -
CC can only be added in the first 30 days
-
is that 30 days from the order confirmed date, or, maybe, the date of the invoice?
-
Warranties necessary?
