I’ve had my m1330 for about three years now, and its complete care warranty expires the 23rd of this month. I’ve had to have it worked on several times over the years - mainly for heat issues (i.e., replaced motherboards/GPUs) - and am worried about the warranty expiring as I know the problems are not over with (it’s beginning to show signs of heat issues again, as a matter of fact). If I choose to extend the warranty, about how much will that cost?

If I opt out of the warranty extension, I at least plan on calling and attempting to have the heat issues fixed once more before my time is up, but what are the odds of me talking them into just giving me a different model altogether? What would be the best approach for this? Also, if this is a feasible option, what model should I ask for/expect? I don’t keep track of these things unless I’m in the market, so I know very little about Dell’s current lineup.

Thank you very much for any help.

First question: You need to call dell for pricing of extended warranty
Second question: it all depends how frequently your computer malfunctioned. Also it really is up to Dell to replace your computer IF THEY think that similar issues are too frequent.

Just to give you a hint, Dell support people do know that many people extend the warranty to take advantage of the "system exchange" program so that people with like 3-4 yr old laptops will end up with new and much better speced ones. Not that I am saying that you are solely intending to take advantage, but I am just telling you that Dell is aware of many people benefiting from such loopholes.

Also you dont really get to request for model and spec. Dell will just assign you one basically according to the class (xps - pretty high end) and screen size. either way, the specs are probably going to be MUCH better than your old one.

Just call up Dell and ask them directly. That is my main suggestion

Usually Dell should be contacting you to see if you want to extend your warranty (phone, e-mail).

Like @OP above stated..you may want to contact Dell about the EW pricing.

Here is the number you can call: 1-866-777-1542, option 4-2-2, found from here

The norm for a replacement on your lappy is at least 3 Repairs that have not worked out for you, this could have changed.

I just signed into "Warranty Status" and a popup told me my Warranty is going to expire w/in 30 days, and to contact at that number ~ if interested in extending.
