Have just received a NEW Inspiron, not an Outlet.

However, I find that the warranty and recorded delivery date is 30/12/12?

Is that normal or correct as it is displaying that the warranty will run out on 29/12/13 even though it was only delivered on 25/2/13.

Is it likely to be a previously returned/repaired unit?

ya, that does not sound right at all. How the heck are you getting these machines so fast? Mine took over 3 weeks to build and deliver from order date? You just said YESTERDAY ago you ordered the 17RSE didn't you???

EDIT: Unless you are ordering the 48hr express models, those are prebuilt units sitting at depots all over the world waiting for buyers.

This is an Inspiron 660 desktop that came in two days to replace my old desktop, which seems to be the norm here in the UK at the moment?

So it is likely then to be a pre-built unit, but it seems daft to start the warranty months before it is actually sold? I will have to take it up with Dell and make sure it starts from the actual delivery date.

The 17 R SE ordered is also being delivered in three days so assume it may also be a pre-built unit?

was this purchased from a local re-seller or directly from dell ?

But either way the invoice date will be the determining factor.

Yes, absolutely, if you are getting these units 3 days after you order them then they are prebuilt. Average is 2 weeks for a build then delivery. I have seen builds go over 2 months depending on parts backorder.

    On-line direct from Dell.

Invoice is dated 25/2/13, so as you say that will be the deciding factor.

I would say instead as well go to dell site and type in your service tag number and that will also give a account to the date when released as well to give you a better time line.
