I am looking to spend under $1000 and am considering he Inspiron or Vostro 1500. You can configure about the same for for similar price.
But is the extra $$$ worth the "up to 3 or 4 year" warranty?

only worth it for complete care.. 3-4 year warranty without complete care is utterly worthless

how can you say that it is worthless without the completecare?? I opted for just the standard 3/4 year warranty because i didn't want all the extra crap that came with the completecare. It was about 50 bucks cheaper to go without all it, and i didn't need all the online backup, and 13 months of phone assistance, etc. I am getting free security through my university, or AVG, etc and didn't want all the bloat of mcafee.
I will say though, that if you do need virus protection, it does seem to work out cheaper to go with complete care rather than just selecting both in the build. -

i looked into things a little more, and i think i am confused. I thought people meant complete care, as in the DellCare premium, value, etc bundles. But from what i can see, complete care actually means the accidental damage protection. That is what i got, the 3 year warranty with accidental damage, not the Dell Care plans.
Thats why you were confused about the completecare having virus protection and online backup. My university offers a free anti-virus through mcafee, which is what i meant when i said security. Sorry for all the confusion.
I do have one last question...is there a difference in the 3 and 4 year warranties. Because the 3 year saids 24x7 support and all that, but the 4 year says LTD warranty with in home service. Whats the LTD thing?? -
