The Sony vaio 15.4 widescreen fz series VGN-FZ21Z was going to be my new laptop till i decided to phone dell , having already bought a Dell Inspiron 9200 3 years ago from them i thought i would give them a chance to make the same soec laptop Sony selling

so my question is the extra 200 i payed out make it a good deal i had read on the fz sony forums all the problems about people complaining about the slow hard drives so i pushed to make sure i got the 7200 rpm one.

Try and bring the price of the Dell. Call a sales rep and haggle if you have not tried doing this already. I am not sure what model that Dell is what is it?
Take a look at this thread if you want to try and get some money of if you not tried doing this already. Tell them as well that the Sony is cheaper and they will probably respond to this and reduce the price.

Compared to the Sony this is not seeming like a good deal for the Dell to me at that price. If you can get it down to the same price as the Sony or even cheaper then i would think differently. -
hi rach
Its was offered for the 1520 but i got them to make it 1720 so i got the best screen , hard drive is much better than the slow 4200 that sony offered people in fz forums are all buying new hard drives with that speed now , dell did offer 5400 rpm, and with the extra years warranty its better for peace of mind , i did get free delivery and installation in to the original deal, i tried to get the price lower but they wouldnt budge on the 1,600 price
i guess the rep and i met in the middle i got a good deal and she got a good deal it is in no way a steal i know that for sure , but it is in no way a bum deal either
its now on order , reading the thread you gave me seems only the op of that thread has made any really steal deals all the rest are like 50 dollars off or 50 pounds off
thanks for your reply -
just a word of caution, there is no hdmi/dvi on these dell laptops. this will hinder your blue ray playing on an external tv.

they told me as it was a configured order to sales rep on the phone that the dvi would be added in they have even given me a hdmi - dvi adapter in the deal
the main reason getting the above spec was to play blu ray to my hd ready 32" tv and back up data i told them if there is no dvi or blu ray read and write i would be sending it back the first day , she assured me it would be added in
so guess i will know for sure when they deliver it
Was This A good Deal ?
