I got into a little accident and I fell in the swimming pool with my laptop. The laptop was turned off at the time.
The laptop, of course, didn't turn on. It had gotten completely wet. I talked to Dell and they said to send it to their repair depot because I had the complete care warranty. I sent it 2 business days ago and asked for an update today. They said that they've already replaced some parts and will be sending the laptop to me soon after it's repaired.
How is this even possible? I didn't think water damage was reversible? Okay, I admit, I was hoping for a replacement. : )
What components would they likely be replacing?
My battery was completely dead even before the accident. Do you think water damage also causes batteries to fault? Because then, I can use that as an excuse to request a working one...

alot of parts in ur laptop are fine when wet and will work again when it is dried. they probably replaced the power supply and maybe some other power components. but everything else should be able to work after drying out.
i know a friend who left a cellphone in the washing machine and then just let it sit next to the heater for a few days and it was fine again afterwards. -

Swimming pool water has a lot of chemicals and other stuff in it, so it's much different from clean water. Chances are, it's probably a complete replacement, or at the very least, a major repair.

Don't try using a hair dryer to dry it off because that will only force water deeper inside.
But yeah, since it was off a lot of the components are probably fine. The parts most susceptible to water damage are the hard drive and display. Be sure to give the screen plenty of time to dry, and you might want to take the hard drive out to dry it off separately (put itin rice) to ensure the inside gets dry before you power it up
