    Hi folks,
i happily installed me new Lat D630 with fingerprint reader last wednesday although the good mood s long gone. With the pre installed joke-o-OS came vista business and all its modern tools of slavery.

I installed Vista 5 times since and never managed to get the bleeding fingerprint reader or that so called security suite working.

ALl is installed but whenever i start vista it shuts the wave prrogram down.

When i start it manually and try ti set up me fingerprints (enroll or so) it shuts down again:

    saying: EmbassySecuritySetupWizard.com has stopped working
in smaller letters: a problem stopped working thhe program working properly.... and so on

useless to say i shutted down all security programs earlier which could hinder a proper installation.

    Any clues?

Btw, i also tried (am sick i know...) ultimate 64 bit but after installing it, all i got was a screen where i could chose mode like secure and so on as ultimate messed it up big time.

Thanks a million for all suggestions. Cheers Fel

The same thing is happening to me. Dell Support suggested that it was a TPM issue (turn on TPM in BIOS). I tried this and I still have no solution. Isn't it the job of software, especially when it comes with a computer, to know how to install correctly? (I ask rhetorically).

    Dear Sir,

I hope you will understand my poor English. I had the same problems as you and installed Vista (Ultimate) many times until I found a first solution given my Vista troubleshooter: TouchChip USB Driver 2.6 from Upek Inc.!

After installing it in a special way (I didn´t note it) I was able to establish the software including fingerprint reader and perboot-option without any problems and error-messages.

A few days ago my second Latitude D630 arrived - with the same problems. Within the next days I will try out the correct way of handling and post it, if your problem holds on.

Additionally Dell Business Support contacts me that there will come an update for Wave-Software within the next weeks - but I wanna use it NOW and on both D630 (cause I work with the first D630 since two months without any problems).

In fact it´s just a software problem. I installed Windows XP Professional SP2 in a separate hidden partition. In this case there are any problems installing all that stuff.

    Kind regards
