I've got an odd issue with Alt+Tab in XP.

I've noticed in the last couple of days that when I hold Alt+Tab to switch between apps, the list of apps disappears after a second or so.

Also, when I hold the mouse cursor over a website image, the tool-tip disappears after a second or so.

I have Ubuntu on a spare disc, and Alt+Tab works ok in that, so I know it's not a sticky key.

    Any thoughts?

try ctrl panel...accessibility options...keyboard. Make sure all are unchecked.

try creating a new windows user account and see if that is affected. (If it is fine, then you could then try to resolve the problem in the problem user account if you want. Perhaps by trying to make settings identical)

try sytem restore (may solve it!). solves most things!

and just to check, it is Holding ALT, and while ALT is held, tapping Tab.

I guess The accessibility options..keyboard, would not even possibly help for the tool-tips disappearing after a few seconds though.

    Fixed it.

Had to remove the battery, unplug it from the mains, and hold the power button in for ten seconds.

Not sure what that did, but it worked.
