    Hey everybody,

I have a weird problem that I suspect is hardware related, but just in case, I'll post it here to see if it can be fixed otherwise...

The left side of my m1330 lcd screen flickers sometimes after waking from sleep. Oddly, the flicker persists on reboot, and even shutdown. But if I shutdown and let it chill out for a few minutes, it goes away. it doesn't do it everytime it wakes up, just sometimes. When I connect it to an external display when it flickers, the external monitor doesn't work (but normally does otherwise). Any ideas?

I've done all the routine things like:
    latest dell drivers
    dell a06 bios for m1330
    hardware diagnostic passed

This has to do with the drivers. Have you tried diffrent video drivers?

I have only tried the dell video drivers. Why would video drivers affect only part of the screen? What other video drivers should I use? Nvidia?

    Hi,

My name is Todd and I'm with Dell's online outreach group. That's an interesting sounding issue. Were you able to try the drivers that brianj320 suggested? If so, did it make any difference?

If it did I'd like to know and pass that information along to our developers.

If the drivers didn't work I may be able to help you try a few different things to see if we can figure out what is going on. I'll stop back later to see if I can be of help.

    Thank you,

    Todd

I have the same problem with my screen flickering and when I turned down the brightness, sometime it completely dim the screen and I can't turn it back up. But then if I close the lid to put it into sleep mode then wake it up then it will come back on. But the flickering persist. This happened after installing the latest driver for intel integrated video 15.6, which show up as 7.14.10.1322. Anyway, I restored the system back to 7.14.10.1253 and it's back to OK now. This 1253 version was downloaded from dell site and replace version 1295 that my laptop was shipped with. Neither version would let me use HDMI output to an external monitor/TV, only give me BSOD.

    quick update,

new drivers did nothing. also, when i rebooted into safe mode, flicker still there. guessing that maybe the graphics card was at fault, dell sent out a tech to replace my motherboard. its in, so i'll let you guys know if that worked...

interestingly, the tech guesses that potentially the magnetic closure of the new m1330 maybe causing the problem, which makes complete sense to me. the magnets maybe causing interference and the flicker. if the new motherboard doesn't do it, then he said he'll have to come back and adjust the components near the magnetic closure (such as the new led display). hopefully, it doesn't affect the rest of you m1330 owners.

No reason for a permanent magnet to cause interference and flicker. And the rest of us have the same magnets.
