I reformatted my computer recently and everything was running beautifully. A week goes by and everything looks like its falling apart. Half the Icons on the Destop dont get recognized, the bootup time has tripled in length, even the wireless card is having a difficult time picking up signals. It keeps connecting and disconnecting or not connecting at all. I havent downloaded anything new onto the computer and I think it may have something to do with the Automatic Updates. I made sure to create a restore point to get back to the beginning and lo and behold it vanished. This sucks, and I need advice.

Have you scanned for viruses and malware? That sounds like a likely cause. I would suggest reformatting again and making an image of the drive after youve customised it, that way its easier to get back to a "safe" point.

I made an image using system restore and it somehow vanished!

If you are connected to someone else's wireless signal is it possible for them to hack into your computer easily?

uhmm, if the guy has enough knowledge to hack your computer, he will have enough knowledge not to leave his wifi open. ;)

Or perhaps he left his wifi open for that purpose or it could be a "drive-by" type incident.

    That's a good one...LOL!

    No offense devilz05.

Yeah , looks like something hosed your system. Another image restore is probably your easy choice. You may have a failing HD as well.

    Good luck
