    Weird.... Drivers dont work

    ok for the past few days ive been trying to install new nvidia drivers for my laptop(sig). When i start them up it tells me that it cant recongnize my hardware inside. what happen?

    What happened was it's an intel/nvidia cough cough..jk.

    You using drivers direct from nvidia or custom drivers? You're absolutely positive you are getting the correct drivers for the card you have? I don't know how nvidia works in that sense, just pointing out the more obvious

    even though your laptop video card operates in the same way as a desktop card does, and can earn the exact same benefits of using nvidia's drivers... nvidia does not support mobile gpu's. technically, that is up to the manufacturer.

    the idea behind this is that your manufacturer can support, test, and release new drivers, and THEY can verify that it doesn't fry your laptop, because laptops vary widely with their thermal budgets, and, while it is conceivable that a driver might mess something up, it is highly unlikely.

    nvidia did make it easy to mod the drivers for mobile use. (and when i say mod, i don't mean a fundamental change- just a modification of the installer, to unlock use for mobile gpu's)

    as far as i can tell, the newest 165.01 driver doesn't work, and i see no mention of it on nvidia's site either. just find the most up to date driver release from nvidia's website, then go to notebookreview and find the same driver and modded inf.
    personally i am using 162.18, and it works perfectly.

    wow im realy out of it today. why didn't i think of that before.
