Yup, this is definitely *the* choice for this size laptop. After what I went through with their Out of Warranty department, I would have loved to buy from someone else, but no one else offers what Dell does in this case.

Not that it totally matters but I wonder if overheating could cause the screen issue after the paste/connection to the heatsink was disrupted..

    and

I had/have a Dell.. the touchpad goes Wack!!
I troubleshot it down to the keyboard...
If I unplug the keyboard it's fine but if its plugged in there goes the cursor and touchpad.
Its 6yrs old so it just sits in a bag under my bed.. collecting dust.

But I'm glad you are getting a new one.
It kind of taints a new machine that someone has to go rummaging around in right after you get it.

    Just a thought

I finally said good bye to my E1705 after 8 months of using ,b/c the nasty BSOD errors with out any fix.

Your 1210 went pretty bad when I saw the picture of the screen went blue ..... Dell's quality is not good anymore?

Just read your posts again and i heard that they're sending out a new one. Hopefully all the problem got fixed. I have 3 replacements and that BSOD won't go away so i have to give up .

troi oi, I have much enjoyment from this notebook even when it acts like whack. And to be honest, I have no idea why. I believe the energy from this notebook makes a huge presence. I can feel it.

I'm proud to say, this is one fine notebook.

nopes....i had dismantled my M1210 to apply thermal paste on th eproccy, and except the screen bezels, and the palmrest/panel above keyboard, everything else (the entire chassis ) is Mg Alloy

In other words, with the lid closed, pretty much every bit of the body is mg-alloy...mighty impressive!
