just talk to a dell live chat rep who told me the laptop is in the "assembling" stage. Is my laptop ready to go to testing and boxing now?

How long was it in kiting? The same thing happened to me. I called dell and found out it was in kiting, and then called back about 4-5 hours later and it was back in build. Then the next morning it was in boxing. Hopefully the same happens to you :)

probably about 6 hrs in kitting stage. The rep told me the "assembly stage" is the last part of the build stage

what dell usually does is they'll just put it in pre-production or build stage until they got all the parts, then it'll go into kitting where they gather all the parts. once it's in kitting the "build" stage will be for real, they will actually BUILD it after it's gone thru kitting. takes about 7min to build it *according to some article on the dell manufacturing thing posted here.* after that it goes into about 80min of testing, then to boxing. so if u went from build, kitting, back to build..... then expect it soon. if u call now it's probably in testing or boxing already

Good luck, but just so you don't get your hopes up high, remember that the laptop is still in Malaysia and that it needs to be shipped on a cargo plane with thousands of other laptops to the USA before being shipped. So you might not get it to sometime next week.

You'll probably get it shipped on Monday. Depending on how long it stays in boxing though. Someone had a thread around here with information about the flight these laptops are on. Maybe you could check that out and determine an 'estimated ship date' from that.

The rep called me up and told me that "the order is on the way from Malyasia to US and the service tag has been generated". Is there possible hope my status could turned to shipped tonight?

I doubt it will get shipped tonight, but hey you never know!

I went into the kitting stage on 8/10, and have been in build since then.

That may have a lot to do w/ the m1330 and you might just move seamlessly into testing and boxing, but prepare for a fate similar to mine, and then u can be extra excited when it does ship :)

look around the forum, that's usually the blanket email they send out to a bunch of customers, it actually can be a good thing as many people had their system shipped out the very next day after receiving this email. and if u act fast, you can call and get some compensation (usually about $75 off ur system) before the order gets shipped, so essentially get $75 off for a one day delay
