I have downloaded the sigmatel drivers from several locations, including right from sigmatel. nothing works. I get errors ranging from "can't read from setup file" to "there is already an instance of setup running"
I have installed and uninstalled and rebooted a million times to no avail. I ran Dell 32 bit diagnostic and the hardware is fine. Just no working drivers. Any help?
Also, in the device manager, it shows I am missing drivers for "PCI Bus" and "BCM2045"
Would love help on getting those taken care of as well.
Thanks in advance!![]()

The BCM device I believe is the bluetooth if I am not mistaken.

I think you're right.
update: I got the drivers installed, but it is still giving me an error with the "Sigmatel High Definition Audio Codec"
the error says a device attached to the system is not functioning properly. But dell diagnostics say other wise.
Grrr... I thought I was getting closer to fixing this. While I now have drivers... I still have no sound -
new update: all problems solved! now I can finally go to bed

Kindly provide the details how u fixed ur problem. thnks
Went from vista to XP Pro on my 1721, now can't find audio drivers (and a couple others) that work
