I bought a T9800 for my main laptop thinking that the P8400 I was going to pull out of it would work in my 1525. Unfortunately it didn't.

I could have sworn I read on here that it would work. Not really a big deal, but now I wonder, WHAT DOES the 1525 support?

I think the highest that thing will take is the T9300. Dont waste time with the P series since it wont work with the 965PM/Gm chipset in the 1525.

    The 1525 can use any Socket P processor of 800MHz or 667MHz FSB, topping out with the T9500 (2.6GHz/800 FSB/6MB L2) for the 35W T-series, or the X9000 (2.8 GHz/800 FSB/6MB L2) for the 45W Core 2 Extreme X-series.

The problem with the P8600 (and all P-series processors) is that it has a 1066 MHz FSB, which is incompatible with the Intel PM/GM965 chipset.

I can vouch for the T9500; I used it in my old Studio 1535, which was also limited by the PM965 chipset, and it was great.

What processor does the 1525 already have? If it's anything over 2.2GHz, odds are you won't notice a thing.
