I'm happy with my specification and price for £1110.00, however, i'm not sure i should have stuck with the Standard 1yrs XPS Base Warranty.
Is it worth me
1. Calling Dell back up and trying to get some extra deal sorted out for extra warranty
or
2. Wait to receive it and then return it see what Dell can do for me
or
3. Just leave it now
TIA

Call them back..it won't affect the build time as far as I know.. warranty is where they make a lot of their money remember so they should be happy to sell you more.
I got 4 years. Why not eh.. just means without question you have a working laptop for the next 4 years. -
Am i not better of getting it first and say i want to return it and do it that way?
-
Extended warranties are such a waste of money. If you knew the amount of revenue retailers pull in on warranty sales you'd cringe.
-
Return what? You don't need to return the laptop to change the warranty. Just send your rep an email or call up the warranty department. If you do it before the machine ships you can be sure they won't try to up the price on you.

That would've been an additional $600... would never live without it either! -
This is how much the Warranty options cost in the UK.
2 Year XPS Premium Hardware Support [add £116.32 or £3/month1]
3 Year XPS Premium Hardware Support [add £163.32 or £4/month1]
4 Year XPS Premium Hardware Support [add £208.99 or £5/month1]
I thinking of opting for the 4 Year, however, i am not paying £208.99 for it as i've just paid £1110 for the laptop.
The maximum i'd pay is £100 extra as thats how much people have managed to get it for.
I really don't want to return it too as they probably say fine due to demand at the moment. :-( so Dell will most likly rip me off now!
I've email my sales guy. Hopefully he'll call me back. -
I always take the extended warranty on my laptops, because I use them all day long and it's pretty certain something will go wrong the 2-3 years of ownership.
In fact I've always ended up using the extended warranty. -
You can always extend the warranty before your original warranty runs out as far as I know.
-
I would go for it.. I bought a toshiba equium m40x and just out of warranty some power failure.. found a co. to inspect for 30quid... they wanted £370+ to fix it.. so goodbye laptop.. such a shame as was a beaut... hence why I have haggled for 4 years warranty.. just peace of mind.. my old inspiron is still working years after I bought it... some stuff that is broken.. but I have dropped it from about 5foot onto concrete here and there.. so cant complain..

Long-term warranty means better resale value on eBay when you want to upgrade in a year.
-
Not much of a deal if i have to pay £208 on top of £1110 for warranty now.
The sales guy even said to me before i ordered the m1330 it that i'm not going to return it. I bought a Insprion 640m last month and I was not happy with it. I called Dell for a refund however, Dell offered £69 back so i accepted, but in the end, i still did not like it and called Dell again to refund it again however, now i was outside my refund period and ended up selling it on ebay.
What shall i do now? I knew i should have considered warranty during making the deal.
he said if i want to cancel the order, say it now and not later as it will knock the sales target/perfromance really hard.
My Jan 2002 Dell Inspiron 8100 is still working to this date and that had 1 year and i paid £2100 for it back then. Shall i just stick with it now? -
-
He said if customers return item, it effects their sales targets/performance really hard for selling the wrong system.
Maybe true or false. -
... for ONE system? ehhhhhhhhh....
What Dell XPS M1330 Warranty Option did you go for?
