Mine is a Samsung and I THINK it looks okay...but frankly, I have nothing to compare it to so I'm not sure if it's good or not.

What kind do you have and how is the quality?

i have an lg on my vostro 1700 but apparently 17" models are not affected by grainy screen.its 1440*900..overall i'm satisfied for a budget laptop but sometimes i have to press twice or thrice for the dvd rom drive to open. i don't really know of this is an issue..

Well, the problem is I can only compare it to the CRT monitor I'm used to and all LCD's can't compare with that. I'm just not sure how good a LCD screen is supposed to look.

I saw some slight backlighting problems at the very bottom where the menu items are and slight viewing angle problems too and was wondering what other owners are experiencing.

the viewing angle is approximately 120 degrees..its pretty good..MAN!! ,you can't compare this laptop lcd with an lcd monitor..the truelife option is WAY better than my 17" desktop lcd..the images are more crisp..my lcd monitor cost me approximately £100.i cant expect good quality images and i cant compare my laptop lcd with expensive panels but my vostro's lcd is better than my desktop..
