Topic. I just don't know what it can handle.

My biggest concern is what a Front Side Bus is and that my current system has a 400 MHz FSB. The other option for Pentium M's are 533MHz. Does it matter? I'm just looking to increase my clock speed, I Have 1.6 GHz and looking to go to at least 2.0GHz. Here is where I've been lookin:

    http://www.intel.com/pressroom/kits/quickreffam.htm

    I'm looking at the 770 (2.13 GHz and 533MHz FSB) and 765 (2.10GHz and 400 MHz FSB)

    Thanks again for the help.

The 765 will work, the 770 won't. You must stay within processor lines (eg, your processor number should be 7n5, so you must use a P-M that is also 7n5).

You cannot run at 533 FSB with the chipset that you have. What you have is the 855 chipset which supports a max of 400FSB. The new Sonoma platform uses the Alvisio chipset, numbered 915.

I think (NOT SURE AT ALL) that you can use a 533 FSB CPU in your system, but it will run only at 400FSB. But to be on the absolute safe side, its better to just upgrade to a 400 FSB CPU!
