    Hi, I bought 512Mb of Corsair value for a friend's Inspiron 5100 bit I'm just getting post error beeps.

    Does anyone know what's the criteria for compatible RAM for this laptop?

    Yeh, the RAM I bought was PC3200, although I thought it would have just run at the lower bus speed.

    Is this my problem?

    Since the RAM, PC3200 is not compatible, yes that is your problem.
