AVG Free even tough the systems came with 3yr norton subscriptions. Why? Low on memory, and it works just fine as it is!

Kaspersky/ThreatFire on one Windows machine. Nod/ThreatFire on the other. None on Macs.

Used to use Kaspersky but the new version is a system hog. Now use ESET NOD32 which is fantastic.

When I got my Vostro I was about to blast McAffee (I've been doing this long enough to know to give McCrappee a wide berth) for Comodo/ZA and NOD32/KAV but as it was a 36 month subscription I thought I'd give it a try.
Been running fine and no complaints.

Not listed in poll options, but i use Sygate Personal firewall - freeware software, however you could purchase, Pro version which gives extra security options. However, it is no longer updated and no further releases will be out, cause i guess Symantec bought it. But i'm more than satisfied, it does what firewall needs to do. Using for some 4 years and no complaints and no attacks. Also, i use no antivirus. Find no sense of such tool. Viruses must be outdated for now, and if you don't follow suspicious links or visit dangerous websites, that shouldn't be a problem, and most of e-mail services provide virus scan for attachments.

Kaspersky for both. I used to use blackice because it had a great ip blocker and logging capabilities, but sadly, it's being discontinued and isn't compatible with Vista.

Ditto this...SAV == Symantec Anti Virus. Its really meant for coporations as it allows server based pushed updates (so you don't have individual clients downloading each and every update to save bandwidth.) Its also fully server manageable. For a home its nice because it is light weight, yet effective still.

    It looks like this:

I use Gentoo, so no virus protection needed. I use a "DIY-refurbished" Linksys for a firewall.

I used norton and it was horrible. I have been using mcafee for about an year and it is quite annoying and memory/cpu intensive. I finally gave trend micro a shot, but it isn't exactly the best piece of software since it also consumes a lot of RAM and doesn't offer too many custom options. I think i'll be trying some of the alternatives!

I am using Trend Micro on my m1330 becuase that is what it came with. But, I will be installing Norton 360 soon...I have that on my desktop and my other laptop. I have just been too lazy to install it on the m1330.
