What Virus/Firewall Protection Software Do You Use On Your Dell?
-
-
McCrapfee, but only because it came with he computer.. =P
-
AVG Free antivirus/Comodo Firewall Pro.
-
I use Linux. No anti virus software necessary.
-
i use NOD32 smart security...its the greatest....
-
AVG Free even tough the systems came with 3yr norton subscriptions. Why? Low on memory, and it works just fine as it is!
-
Kaspersky/ThreatFire on one Windows machine. Nod/ThreatFire on the other. None on Macs.
-
SAV and Comodo...i cant vote!
-
Where is the option for none?
-
Kaspersky!!
-
Comodo FW & Avast Pro AV and a 12 Bore Shot Gun
-
In the Misguided Souls department.
@BlackRussian:
-
SAV Corp and Comodo Firewall 3.0 Pro (Best Ever
)
-
Is that Symantec, as in Norton, or something different? I've never before seen "SAV." Damn, I'm such a n00b!
-
Used to use Kaspersky but the new version is a system hog. Now use ESET NOD32 which is fantastic.
-
i think theyre talkin about sophos
-
Avira + ZoneAlarm.
-
SAV is Sophos AntiVirus.
Its usually used in businesses etc. -
When I got my Vostro I was about to blast McAffee (I've been doing this long enough to know to give McCrappee a wide berth) for Comodo/ZA and NOD32/KAV but as it was a 36 month subscription I thought I'd give it a try.
Been running fine and no complaints. -
Not listed in poll options, but i use Sygate Personal firewall - freeware software, however you could purchase, Pro version which gives extra security options. However, it is no longer updated and no further releases will be out, cause i guess Symantec bought it. But i'm more than satisfied, it does what firewall needs to do. Using for some 4 years and no complaints and no attacks. Also, i use no antivirus. Find no sense of such tool. Viruses must be outdated for now, and if you don't follow suspicious links or visit dangerous websites, that shouldn't be a problem, and most of e-mail services provide virus scan for attachments.

Norton and CA on 2 different OS. Both were free (or make money) after rebates.
-
Kaspersky for both. I used to use blackice because it had a great ip blocker and logging capabilities, but sadly, it's being discontinued and isn't compatible with Vista.
-
nod32 and comodo pro...
-
umm... how is threatfire?? is it any good? somesay its a resource hog..true?
-
Symantec AV Corp Bro
-
McAfee Security
-
On the others PC running XP we have F-Prot 3.16F AV & Comodo FW been using F-Prot for over 5 years..
-
Avast as antivirus, Comodo as firewall.
-
Windows Live OneCare.
-
Ditto this...SAV == Symantec Anti Virus. Its really meant for coporations as it allows server based pushed updates (so you don't have individual clients downloading each and every update to save bandwidth.) Its also fully server manageable. For a home its nice because it is light weight, yet effective still.
It looks like this:Attached Files:

I use Gentoo, so no virus protection needed. I use a "DIY-refurbished" Linksys for a firewall.
-
I used norton and it was horrible. I have been using mcafee for about an year and it is quite annoying and memory/cpu intensive. I finally gave trend micro a shot, but it isn't exactly the best piece of software since it also consumes a lot of RAM and doesn't offer too many custom options. I think i'll be trying some of the alternatives!
-
Try Windows Live OneCare. Works great for me. You can also download a free 90 day trial version here: http://onecare.live.com/standard/en-us/default.htm
-
I use trend micro.. i did try nod32 but i just got confused and seemed a bit too complicated so i switched back to trend micro
i suppose i could've gotten used to nod32 but i aint got the time what with bein at uni!!! god 3rd is so difficult!!!!
-
AVG - Windows side
Linux - commando style , i run naked. -
nod32 for past 2 yrs never had a problem.
-
I am using Trend Micro on my m1330 becuase that is what it came with. But, I will be installing Norton 360 soon...I have that on my desktop and my other laptop. I have just been too lazy to install it on the m1330.
-
AVG Free + Zone ALarm Free
-
NIS 2008 has really impressed me. It's much better then any version prior to this.
-
None, no firewall or anti virus, i don't need it, i know what i am doing online. but i am considering installing comodo firewall on all PCs in the house.
-
AVG, Spyware Doctor, Windows Defender, and Windows Firewall
