:X...been waiting way to long now to make a purchase. Why is buying a laptop such a burden? Anywase, i've had my eye on the (pricey, atleast here in Can. - no coupons) i700m. But now, (last half month) I heard of 710m comming out. Have seen pictures yadayada but WHAT will be the significant upgrades to this machine? (OTHER than the obvious color scheme). Something with Chipset ect? Faster BUS speed? From what you have read/researched/heard/projected will these two machines be pretty much identical and only come down to personal preferences regarding the color scheme?

    There must be something more.

Oh and now I hear about this Wal-Mart HP laptop-one-day-only-door crasher sale. (Homepage NR.com) And if that is available in Canada, I mean like common, who wouldn't go for that (if they didn't have a notebook already) just because of the amazing price. And the machine itself (from looking at review pictures) is a beautiful looking/designed (albiet NOT wide-screen) machine. Nevertheless, heck, why not save about $1500 (in comparison to 700m) - 300%. Seems logical does it not?

But obviously that machine is inferior and a different class in itself because of screeen size (I know). It does posses 128MB shared graphics compared to 700m's 64MB shared however.

Anywho, post ANYTHING, you know about this upcomming small Dell or other manufactures that are similar in size ect.

Probablu uses the Sonoma Pentium M. No small laptops like that have a decent GPU. They are made for portablilty not gaming. If you are looking for a good small laptop, the Fujitsu S series wold be at the top of my list. Good Luck.

Regarding the Fujitsu, are they not a bit more pricey? And buying one, than servicing will be an adventure on its own. I believe there aren't any Fujitsu stores aroung here.

Yes, they are more expensive. They are also better in my opinion, so it is a trade-off. It is sort of a leap of faith.

I'd rather take a more guarenteed, down - to Earth approach ;\. A Fujitsu would be nice, but I don't want to have to go to great lengths to get it serviced, if ever the need be.

Okay, Nov 4, still no sign of the 710m. And at this time, the 700m is being offered with 1024MB RAM, which I would prefer, for the least expensive (yet still expensive) price i've seen it in a while. I actually missed a similar opportunity to purchase with these specs, at this price about 5 weeks ago, and have been waiting ever since. Thus, I would like to make this purchase before, I think it is, Nov 11, in order to take advantage of this "deal" (not really deal IMO, just least 'rip-off').

For this reason, I may not wait out for the 710m. Especially b/c it won't be a drastic upgrade, and I prefer the keyboard color of 700m (darker compared to 710m's white), however, I do seem to like the 710m's 'one-color arctic silver' chasis. But again, I won't be seeing this machine in person anytime soon, and it prob. won't be out before this deal on the 700m expires, once again).

What to do, what to do. - Hmmmm....Me wishes the Wal-Mart Black Friday HP laptop deal existed in Canada. Just get that, save ~ $1400CDN (Yes) and be done with...

The 700 M is a very small laptop with a crappy small keyboard and integrate graphics, if you dont need a gaming laptop, I suggest looking at the new xps m140 or the 610m, they actually look to me to be the same dam laptop, both integrated graphics and the same design and size, 14 inch screen instead of the 700m's 12 inch one plus a normal full size laptop keyboard which makes these new 14 inch laptops a better choice in my opinion than the 700m. All of these laptops go for the same price tier. Also you might want to look at the Inspiron 6000D, 15.4 inch widescreen and dedicated graphics instead of integrated for I believe the same price tier as the others.
