I had a problem with my hard drive thats been giving me errors and whatnots, This is my second hard drive dell has sent me with the same problem, so today i decided to contact through online chat (which i think is so much better). I told them that I'm fed up with this computer lately and since this is my second hard drive replaced by dell with the same problem i demand an upgrade. He told me that he has to speak to his superviser. So he did and now iam geting a 250 gb 7200 rpm western digital harddrive. Is that a good harddrive?

Now I don't have to upgrade my hard drive to a 7200 rpm like i wanted to :)

I assume your original hard drive was 250GB 5,400 RPM. In that case, yeah, it's a nice little free upgrade, although your battery life will take a small hit.

Maybe 10 to 15 minutes, worst case. The hard drive's spindle has to spin around 130% as fast as a 5,400 RPM drive, which takes a little more voltage for the motor.

I wonder how much of a performance gain i would notice? How much would windows boot faster, etc.

Probably a few noticeable seconds off of boot time.

Ok guys heres an update, my package came overnight so i am happy, it maxes out at 99 mb/s vs 54mb/s. So it almost doubles the 5400rpm drive. It ended up being a seagate harddrive. I got a blue circuit board vs my original green circuit board on the harddrive. What does the blue circuit board mean?
