Yea, when you call tomorrow, definitly STICK TO YOUR GUNS. Don't let them talk you into some dumb deal, or a gift card or somethign dumb. GET YOUR LAPTOP (or the same model) or better. Don't let them push you around. Now your just a customer....but soon your going to be a lawsuit.
Edit: Also...make sure you write everything down thats happened to you. All of the things they've done wrong. Everything you want to say to them. This will make it easier to be confident, and foward with them. You won't have to stumble for words...and there will be no hesitation. -
Thanks for the tips Waterwizard11!

If you think Dell is treating you unfairly (Im not sure if this could apply to a branch of Dell overseas) But contact the BBB (better business bureau) and complain- then contact dell and get a supervisor and tell them you will be contacting the BBB. Dell usually is pretty concerned with their BBB status so it could help.
https://odr.bbb.org/odrweb/public/GetStarted.aspx
or call the BBB *google it -
Thanks westcoast01
I will be calling Dell today to see the status of my notebook. >.< hopefully they have it this time. -
ya- realistically they are here to serve you- so as long as you are polite and don't drop "to their level" you can stick to your guns and have a lot more leverage against them should it become a real issue complaint wise.
*on a side note, I do have friends who have filed BBB complaints and have gotten free laptops, money off, coupons, discounts, personal admin letter from companies (dell included). so its a good option. -
Well Dell has told me there is nothing wrong with the screen so live with it. I have tried everything possible now but lawsuit. Unfourtunatly a lawsuit will take at least 3 years to process (various lawyer quotes) therefore appears to be a waste of time.
This is the first and LAST time I will ever buy from Dell Japan again. I will be giving my notebook up to my sister or my father as both of them are in want of a notebook and will be in search of a company that will respect their customers and not lie to their face.
Thank you EVERYONE for your help! -
file a BBB complaint anyway- helps for people in the future who may have a problem. sorry Dell japan was such crap- seems only dell usa has decent service.
-
-
i think you can file one anyway through the usa and complain about the us dell- at least that is what i would do. I mean a complaint can only help- not hurt you.
-
Okthanks!!!

Well, I think X2P could still file a BBB report? This is how:
Dell Japan is still apart of the overall Dell company, if I am not mistaken. It's the Japanese "arm" of Dell. Dell is an American company, and perhaps if you make a complaint (well, don't know if it'll get addressed, but at least people can know in the US that it could be even worse elsewhere in the world with Dell) that Dell doesn't have any good service control in their Japanese branch.
Sorry to hear about that long ordeal with your laptop, I would be pretty ticked off if I had a complete runaround like that. I think that's unacceptable anywhere. (Too bad Japan seems to have all the computer boys just go out and buy a new one though, just makes those companies greedier and gives them more money they don't deserve.) -
No dice with the BBB they claim that Dell had done a clever move in order to avoid the BBB international branches. They had set them up as new companies vs extending >.<
-
What? That's ridiculously smart of Dell. Hmm. New companies.... So does that mean that Dell has any ruling power over this Japanese branch, or does it act independently from it and just sells the same products? Meh.
This is a very hard thing to try and figure out. It's certainly very unfair to you, and I wouldn't blame you if you never bought a Dell in Japan again. X_x -
They have ruling, it is a very complex buisness trick. Dell does still have control over Dell Japan.
I am pretty much ****** (fill in the blanks) ... I am giving notebook to sister and building a desktop >.<. -
Ah, I see. That's probably the best for you... Have you gotten it back even though? Meh.
I think it's better to go with a desktop anyway, you're guaranteed to not have to deal with Dell... Good luck with the tower, I'm sure you'll be WAY more happy with it than that laptop.
Sorry to hear about Dell's sneaky tricks. One of the reasons why I severely never want to buy a Dell again. They are more ripping off the customers than anything. -
EDIT... now im thinking of cutting back keeping vostro buying external monitor then desktop later >.< grrr I hate decisions -
Im kinda in the same dilemma as you
Hardcore desktop or a spec'd out montevina notebook.
Decisions decisions.... -
I see. Hmm, well, it's all up to you, indeed.
I agree, parents and relatives can only pay so much before they start getting really upset and stop. xD My grandparents are helping me out in a lot of ways, but they get really uptight about those ways too.
Sad thing, is that you can't carry around the desktop, eh? If only a gaming PC were more portable... xD But then it'd have to be a laptop, and those are double the price, if not triple the price of a good gaming desktop, maybe even quadruple.
I'm sure you'd be fine either way.... unless the Vostro has more problems while you are using it before you get a desktop. That would just be ridiculous though. -
Ya thats the problem with the desktop no portability. But my parents are currently paying for the most expensive university in Japan and will be paying for 3 more years for that then paying for Harvard, Yale .. those type of unis for 6 years after. I will be getting half the money for the desktop after nelhalm -
>.< I just did a quick inspection of the notebook... there is a chip on the corner of the lid and now my sd card reader will not hold the card in .. I had to hold the card in in order to download my photos.

Send it back in, and hope for a replacement ><

What action can I take over a VERY long repair period.
