I just upgraded my m1530 from a T5450 to a t9300, why because I could of course. The swap went fine zero issues. Anyway I also got more memory this to be exact: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820144084 I put them in and I cant even get to the post screen. All I get is three blinking lights on the media strip. So did I get the wrong memory.

I should add everything works with the stock memory.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and for any ideas you may have!

Make sure your BIOS recognizes PC-6400 RAM.

It is the newest BIOS that Dell offers... Everything that I can find online says that PC2 6400 is supported

Also try the chips one at a time, as they could be faulty

This is why i tell people not to get 800mhz ram! It will not always down clock correctly to 667 mhz.

Because the motherboard does not support 800mhz.

Processor FSB and RAM speeds do not have to be the same. The max on your motherboard for the memory bus is 667 mhz. It can not go higher. Some 800mhz ram is capable of downclocking itself to 667 mhz, while others can not. You are better off returning the memory and buying 667 mhz ram for your laptop.

edit. i see you ordered new ram. That should work a little better ;)

Exactly....just stick with 667 mhz RAM. Outpost or newegg usually have deals on PC-5300 RAM.

I know the OCZ 800mhz 2GB sticks work fine and cost the same as most 667mhz sticks so I purchased those as they will have better resale value for the same initial cost.

DDR2-800 RAM will have little re-sale value once Intel's new chip platform pushes DDR3.
