My 1500 shipped without Roxio, so, I installed the Nero 7 lite software that came with my non-Dell desktop. I was going to let it go at that, but now I see that when I click on a lot of Nero features, I get a message saying that my 30 trial period has expired. It still does the basics, but I've got all this non functioning stuff loaded taking up room. Dell has sent me their Roxio CD, but before I install it, and uninstall Nero, I'd like to know what all the features are.

Isn't it usually a good idea to start at the manufacturer's website?

It is officially called Roxio Creator DE. It is not the full version, but seems to have many basic features. It will burn data CDs and DVDs, make copies of either, and do some other functions. It won't rip CDs into MP3s and has no real backup capability.
What features are you specifically interested in? I'll check my copy for you. -
basically it will do anything you want so long as its not to break copyright infringements. aka, copy dvd movies.

I finally got back to this. Since I already had this lite version of Nero 7 Essentials installed on both my Desktop, and Notebook, and it was working, I decided to take another look at it. I found I could delete the unwanted bloat and keep the basics that I wanted.... basically burning CDs and DVDs, and making labels (which I'd probably do on my desktop). I also kept a program that would play DVDs, etc. but I may delete that later as it duplicates other software. At this point I reduced the size of my Nero folder from 238 meg to 98 meg.
What are the featues of Dell's Roxio Creator?
