    What brand memory does dell use in 1720?

    I ordered it with just 1GB Ram and am going to upgrade on my own. Im going to buy a 2GB stick and replace 1 of the 512 sticks. So in total i will have 2.5GB.

    If i could i would like to buy the same brand as the 512 stick already in there. Otherwise, i was just looking at corsair value select. Anyone have any problems with this configuration?

    It generally doesn't matter which manufacturer you buy you RAM stick from, as long as it is a reputable company, because they usually offer better warranties.

    If you really want to find out which brand it is, you can open the RAM hatch on the bottom of your Laptop and you should be able to see the sticker with the brand name without having to remove the RAM stick from the slot.

    Ok, well i dont have the laptop yet. i was hoping to get both the laptop and the ram around at the same time so i wouldnt have to bear Vista with 1GB ram for long.

    Anyone else out there recently purchace a 1720 and happen to notice which brand of ram is in there?

    You will never know what will be inside. They get several shipments a day, which ever is cheapest at that moment. So you will never know whats going to be inside.
