did my Dell E1405 come with? I thought it was Easy- CD Creator but I can't seem to find it or any DVD/CD writing program on any of the cds that came with the laptop.

I got a DVD burner which comes with the DVD burning software but it is crippleware; no CD ripping software is present so I use Free Rip. For burning CDs I believe you can use Windows media player. I use Nero, personally.

I use Nero also, the ultimate burning software, for my opinion.

Dunno what mine came with but I either use explorer itself, iTunes or CDBurnerXP Pro.

CDBurnerXP burner works well for the basics, but there are a few things it does not do as well as Nero like convert mp3s on the fly. You can get an OEM copy of Nero on eBay for $10 or less. I prefer version six over seven.

For audio I use burrrn. I supports drag and drop and playlist/cuesheet. It decodes almost every format and suports Exact Audio Copy's non-compliant .cue sheets if you're into that sort of thing.

For data I use deepburner or cdburnerxp. Both have worked well for what I need to do.

Oh, and above all, both are free as rain.
