    Hey all,

Dell has been jerking me around for the last few weeks when I have tried to get my system serviced, and returned to me. I go the Complete Care package for piece of mind and to be treated better when I deal with them, but its been nothing to that effect. I am wondering what I can get out of them for all the trouble I have had to go through for this.

What could have all been done in a week turned out to be 3 weeks now.

    -------------------------------------
    MY STORY

I called friday to get dell to send a box to my address at school, which I specifically stated and told them the details.

I recieve an email later that day confirming that they are sending me a box, BUT sending the box to my home address in stead.

I call again and send an email as well, and get the guy to change my address again, and he gives me a confirmation number, tracking etc. the whole bit.

Monday rolls around hoping to get my box, then on tuesday instead of the box coming to me, it goes to my parents place. So they have to drive down to get the computer from me on the weekend.

They ship it out 1 week later on monday, Dell ships it back to me on friday (oddly they actually send it to my school address now) but I wasnt at home to recieve it since I had no prior notice that my computer was fixed. So I need to go to the shipping depot to pick it up.

I bus it all the way to the shipping place to pick up my computer only to find that the shipper wont release the box to me because my address on my drivers license is not the same as the address they are shipping to. (I wont change my address on my license when I am at school, because it is simply my temporary, only for when I am at school) So I call dell from the shippers phone to get the authorization they need to release the box to me. Instead they say they cant do authorizations anymore, and I have to have a redirect (which is dumb) because I would be redirecting it to the same address.

I end up getting the redirect filled out, and they say it can take anywhere from a day to 7 days to get that form completed and certified by head office.

    -----------------------------------------
    MY QUESTION

NOW, I am wondering what I can squeeze out of dell as a compensation for all this trouble I have had to go through, I am an engineering student, and taking large amounts of time out of my day is not pleasant especially when its midterm season for me already. Can I get anything out of them If anything, hoping for maybe a Vista Rebate, just not sure...

    Any suggestions

I don't see how Dell owes you anything. True, they made a mistake and sent the box to your parent's house. However, they did send the second one exactly where you asked. Dell doesn't have any control over the shipping company or their policies.

I agree it's a major inconvenience, but IMO Dell doesn't really owe you any sort of compensation. If you want to call and complain, feel free to do so. They'll probably throw a small rebate or coupone or something at you to get you off the phone.

With the neormouse amount of mail fraud involving especially computers, it's no surprise to me that they wouldn't release it to you becasue of non-matching addresses on your drivers license.

Sounds like you're trying to blame Dell and get something free from them for your own issues.
