    hello,

i am sure that i am going to buy the xps m1530.

But i have a few question

The things that i want are the following:

    2.4ghz dual core2
2-4gig ram ( not sure if 4 is really necesary, i dont think so... )
    200gb 7.200rpm
    8600gt 256mb dedicated

those are the most important things BUT:

i somewhere have read that dell is overcharging the RAM and HD,

is it wisely to buy 2gig of ram on dell or should i buy 1 ram and buy 2*2 gig from newegg? Cause a friend of mine did that but after changing the ram his bluetooth was broken....

The same question on the hd? Should i buy the lowest possible and upgrade it myself with parts bought on newegg?

Does this save a lot of money or is the difference not that great?

And sorry for my english e

    Thanks!

PS: link to video how to replace HD and RAM in xps m1530 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7R5VYsdxIg

PPS: where can i go with the parts that i would take out of the laptop??

PPS: Is there maybe another laptop that has the same config but where i can save more money?

PPPS: i also posted this on the waht laptop should i buy section but i didnt knew where so i posted it here also :)

Yes, you should buy RAM and HDD separately, that will save you a lot of money, especially if you want 4GB and 200GB 7200RPM disk.Besides, both upgrades are pretty easy to do.
One more thing, I really don’t see much of a point in paying extra $125 for the T7700 over T7500, cos you won’t see any difference with that extra 200MHz

what kind of memory should i take?

is there al lot of difference between
    OCZ 2GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667
    and
    Patriot 2GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 800

    is it much faster??

and is it useful to already have 4gig of mem??

    thanks...

The 800 MHz RAM will be downgraded to 667 MHz in the M1530.. There would be no benefit.

4GB will be recognized at ~3.5GB in Windows Vista (32bit)

newegg is a good source, definitely don't buy from Dell directly.
