What does it mean if an order is "currently being processed" for over 4 days now?

Hello, Dell is sending me a replacement laptop and when I check the order details, it was placed on the 19th, it says In Production. When i call to check the status, it says my order is currently being processed. Normally replacement laptops are refurbs they just pull from teh outlet store. The delivery date is also "currently not available"

Any idea what the hold up could be?

    thanks

Call a Rep with your current Order Number ask them to tell you exactly where your order is. Most likely it is being prepped for shipment, or as such (and the system could be updating).

Online Status, and the Automated phone status are *never* in sync with one another. :( There is a good chance that come Monday your status could be changed to something you want to *see* other then *currently not available*.

When you speak with the Rep, get a Case Number as your confirmation of what contained in the conversation. ;)

It means your method of payment isn't working.

I just went thru this a month ago with my preferred account.

You're gonna have to call and get it straightened out....

Sleey, they are sending him a *replacement* lappy. His other one wasn't working out. It's not the payment method that is the issue at hand here.
    (Your ordeal..ack) :(

He needs to speak with a Rep, and find out where his order is in production right now! ;)

Yes, I am getting this laptop as a system exchange... Do you happen to know if they are open on Sundays for me to call them?

    Whoops!

    Sorry for the confusion....

You need to get the old order status. Directions below.

The regular 433 number will stay at order processing until it ships.

1)Call 800-283-2210 = this is the DPA phone number so don't get worried

    2)Follow prompt #3

    3)Now, select business/epp selection #2

    4)Track order option #1

5)Then do it again - track order option #1

Thanks, I just called this number and found out my replacement laptop is in the "build" stage. I find this a little weird because I thought replacement laptops were refurbs? and some of the components im getting in it aren't even available if I try to build the SXPS 16

    Not always.

And it doesn't matter if you order a system from the outlet or new, it still goes into a build stage.

I'd say your getting new because refurbs tend to come much quicker....

I was thinking the same thing about getting it much quicker... I just checked the status again and the automated system said it is in the build stage still... and now there is an estimated ship date of Aug 28th (friday). My order page says next business day shipping so I'll probably get it on August 31st.

Anyone know if the estimated dates the automated system gives out here is any reliable? I have been told Aug 28th, then sep 3rd, then sep 1st, then aug 27th, then sep 11, this morning it was sep 22.. i just called again and september 2nd. seems everytime I call, it just says a random date...

Automated is usually more reliable vs. online...but if you want a more certain answer...call and speak with a Rep. ;) They should be able to tell you when it will ship, also.

Sorry, I got caught up with the first week of University and shuffling around my schedule...

It arrived on the first :D and I'm loving it!

knlmwq, I had an XPS M1530 with a T7250, 8600m GT, 1440x900 screen, vista home premium, 3 gigs ram, 200 gig 7200rpm HD..

Replacement laptop: Studio XPS 1640, T9800 2.8ghz (wow!), ATi 4670 1gb (another WOW!), 1920x1080 RGBLED (another wow!!), Vista ultimate 32bit, 3 gigs ram, 250 gig 7200rpm HD.

HUGE upgrade, and it wasn't a refurb, it's brand new!! I'm really happy. Now to extend my warranty, I have just about 5 months left.

    Original= Inspiron e1705:

    Nvidea 7900gs 256 graphics card
    2.0ghz processor
    1gb ram
    17inch 1920*1200 resolution

    Replacement= Studio xps16
    320gb 7200rpm harddrive
