I'm about to receive my xps tomorrow and am planning on formatting vista. Is installing media direct necessary? What exactly does it do? Does anyone really use it?

It's useful if you want to watch a dvd without booting windows. There's a great guide on reformatting your dell and re-installing media direct on NBR. It's not necessary but I have no problem with it being on.
