When I purchased my XPS 1530 I was forced to buy the 3yr warranty with it. My order has the following Warranty Items:
    950-3339 3 Year Limited Warranty
    960-3652 Warranty Support,2 Year Extended
    960-8710 Warranty Support,Initial Year
988-5618 Dell Hardware Warranty PlusOnsite Service, Extended Year
983-5942 Type 15- Third Party At HomeService with Nights and Weekends, 24x7 Technical Support,2 Year Extended
988-5617 Dell Hardware Warranty PlusOnsite Service, Initial Year
984-2360 Type 15- Third Party At Home Service with Nights and Week ends, 24x7 Technical Support, Initial Year

My question is, what does this warranty cover? If something is spilled on it and it fries the computer does the warranty cover it?

If something breaks after 2 years and 9 months that can't be repaired do they replace the computer with something similar?

Where can I find out more about the warranty and what is covered and what is not covered?

    Thanks!

When I bought my system the thing says

    1 950-3339 3 Year Limited Warranty
    1 960-3652 Warranty Support,2 Year Extended
    1 960-8710 Warranty Support,Initial Year
1 988-5618 Dell Hardware Warranty PlusOnsite Service, Extended Year
1 983-5942 Type 15- Third Party At HomeService with Nights and Weekends, 24x7 Technical Support,2 Year Extended
1 988-5617 Dell Hardware Warranty PlusOnsite Service, Initial Year
1 984-2360 Type 15- Third Party At Home Service with Nights and Week ends, 24x7 Technical Support, Initial Year

Is that the same as the above link? It says CompleteCare

Wow, that is really good coverage. So, I have a question. A couple years from now, this system is going to be obsolete. So if something happens to it and it has to be replaced what do they replace it with?

The one caveat about "accident coverage" is that it's only valid in the USA. If you're traveling and spill your good European beer on your notebook... you're out of luck.

How would they know if it is European beer or American Beer? How would they know if that European beer was spilled in Europe or while in the US?

If it evaporates w/o a trace because it was nearly 100% water, then you know it was the latter. ;)

I don't think you have Complete Care package. When I ordered mine my invoice had.

    1 412-0358 Soft Contracts - Consumer Complete Care $0.00
    1 960-9188 CompleteCare Accidental DamageProtection, Inspiron, 3 Year $99
    1 988-0679 Bundle LoJack Theft Recovery Service - 3 Year $50

So I guess you shouldn't spill anything on your computer, because warrenty doesn't cover spills.

So does anyone know what the 3 YEAR Limited Warranty will cover??? (not the accidental damage one) I got this as a free upgrade with the current $669 discount, so I want to know what it will cover. If anyone knows, please let us know. Thanks.

jkruer01, don’t get too exited. Because from what you have listed you don’t have Complete care!. You only have 3 year limited warranty with at home service. Which means DELL will replace any part if it breaks on its own, not due to accidents (i.e if you spill water on it or drop the notebook etc..; basically most physical damages won’t be covered). At home service means, the technician will come to your home, therefore you don’t have to send it off to get something repaired.

Your warranty covers the first column in this table : Limited Warranty

I KNEW IT WAS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE!

Can this accidental damage be added?

    Thanks!

Sure. I don't know how much it's going to cost but I think it can be added. You can atleat call warrenty service at Dell and try to explain to them you forgot to add $99 Complete Care Package on website, and see where that goes.
