I hear that you can ask for a motherboard replacement?

I also hear that you can download a program that helps settle it?

How can you be certain the sounds are coming from your CPU and not some other component? The CPU should theoretically be silent? If there are sounds coming from the comp chances are it's probably the HDD, fan or optical drive...

You mean the sound that some Core 2 Duos make when switching into a different power mode?

Yeah, I had no idea that a CPU could make noise.

My solution to any problem: drain the capacitors. Take the battery out, unplug it, and turn it on. My desktop can last about half a second with the charge built up in the capacitors. Solves a lot of funky motherboard problems.

To bad this solution doesn't solve poverty or world hunger. :(
