    ^Title explains my question.

Does the WiFi require QuickSet in order to work? How does the "WiFi Catcher" even work? Is it basically a mini-OS on a seperate partition? Will I not have basic notebook features (adjust brightness/volume) if I don't install QuickSet?

I'm a MINIMALIST when it comes to software and I run a stripped OS and custom shell (120KB) to squeeze as much performance as possible, would like to know if I even need this cheesily-named DELL feature.

    Thanks.

I have never installed quickset when I reinstall windows on my Dell notebook and I haven't had any problems. In fact, I just rebooted yesturday and I don't have quickset on there anywhere and my WiFi works fine. I don't have the WiFi catcher thing though.

OK cool. I wanted to make sure the WiFi switch wouldn't render the WLAN useless without QuickSet.
