A few weeks ago, a couple people found out that the audio hiss/whining thats found on the 1520 and to an extent on the 1420 can be fixed by simply putting electrical tape on the screws holding down the audio jack.

I remember there was a thread on how to take apart the 1400, but I can't find it!

Does anyone have a link to this guide?

I've successfully stripped the notebook down so that the top cover, lcd and keyboard are removed, but I do not know how to remove the actual motherboard to get underneath it.

    Use the search feature :p

I'd get it for ya but the search feature is deadly on Dialup. lol.

You could refer to the manuals on the Dell support website.
