In my opinion when you decide to switch to vista you should de a complete re-format. If your able to back up all your important data I would strongly recommend it. I did it that way and it took me 25 mins to completely install vista, my friend upgraded and it took him 3 hours. :p

The maximum score you can get is 5.9. The thing I dont like about that score is that, it's not an average just the score of your weakest component.

The maximum score you can recieve is a 5.9. It does not evaluate all your parts and add it up. It evaluates all your parts and the part with the lowest score is your score.

Windows Experience Index is something that is coming out with Vista and it is just a way for consumers to determine if specific programs will run on your laptop. There are five categories that a score is given for and the lowest score will determine your Windows Experience Index.

    Processor
    Memory (RAM)
    Graphics
    Gaming Graphics
    Primary Hard Disk

    im running vista 64 beta

    i have a 4.7 overall score.

i havent been able to install my graphics driver or any other system drivers. its running on the initial windows installation settings/drivers.

I wonder what improvements i will see when the proper drivers become available?

    4.3 - Processor
    4.5 - RAM
    5.0 - Graphics
    5.9 - Gaming Graphics
    4.5 - HDD

Although vista ran like it had scored a 1.0 even with 2GB of ram. The new UI is too taxing for me for now, so I just went back to XP (or rather, swapped hdd's back, vista had been installed on a spare)
