After my issue with my palmrest on my laptop, I decided to get a replacement. I emailed Dell to ask if the replacement would be refurbished. Their response was "I would like to inform you that the replacement order will be a new like to like unit." Do you think they are sending me another new laptop? Im just a little antsy about it because I just paid for this one brand new and if they send me one with refurbished components, I might be a little angry![]()

well its kind of hard to understand what they even said. but sure they should.

right......

the warranty manual says that they can/may send a refurbished unit...
-
i doubt it would be refurbished, a new like to like should be a brand new laptop
-
The unit will be brand new because your system is a brand new unit. If it falls outside the first 30 days, it may then be a refurbished system but I know of others that have argued their way into new units.

yeah i think its after the 21 days that theyll send a refurb. before the 21 days, a new one. I was right on 21 days when I called. I was thinking about living with my clicky palmrest...

Just converted my desktop to a hometheater/home server pc with media center 2005. Its kind of nice. i have a 2.8ghz, 9800 all in wonder, and a 160gb + 80gb drive for storage. Now I just wanted a good laptop for remote access etc.

The motherboard is usually the only real bottleneck in prebuilt systems like Dell/HP/gateway etc.
What is a "like to like" replacement unit?
