I am trying to decide if selling it is worth the trouble.

    T2600 2.16 core duo
    go 7800
    Hitachi 7200 RPM 100GB SATA
    Dual DVD
17 inch UltraSharp TrueLife Wide-screen WUXGA, for Inspiron 9400/E1705
    2GB 667MHz
    Windows XP Pro
    2 batteries 9 cell
    2 power supplies
    Nice Targus Carrying Bag.

What is it really worth?

I would imagine you could get more than that seeing as you have top of the line everything and two 9 cell batteries. That is an awesome machine, mind if I ask why you are selling it?

it'll have at least a 1 year warranty is my guess, and it's transferrable i beleive. you can also get an already purchased laptop warrantied through dell so that really wouldn't be a problem.

you see that's the problem with most used laptops. Yes you've spent $2.5k when on it when you bought it. But now you want someone to buy it off of you (a stranger to the buyer) with almost no warranty left and make a huge plunge in terms of $$$... Or you could also spend a little more a get a refurb unit from Dell outlet (for ~$1300), so I would agree that $1000, maybe $1100 is prob all you can get. Yes you can purchase ext warranty, but that's that extra money out of YOUR pocket. So why buy from a stranger when you can get something comparable from the manufacturer? The only answer I can come up with is the price.

It was purchased with two years on regular warranty and accidental damage. It also has wireless and Bluetooth. This cost me more than I was expecting is part of the problem. I also have a shoulder injury that required me to get a lighter computer. I went from a 15.1" heavy to the 17" lighter to a 14" lightest now. There is one and a half years worth of warranty left. Nothing is wrong with it except the word inspiron is starting to come off. Believe me it takes too long for me to get a new computer to not take very good care of them. It also cost me a lot more than $2500. :( I was actually just trying to find out what kind of price range it is in. I would rather keep it if I can't get a reasonable amount for it.

I honestly did not know what I paid for it until someone said $1000. I went back and checked and may not be able to get what I want for it. $1400 is still better than $1000. Is ebay safer than it used to be? I honestly am trying to decide if upgrading the video card and using it for a game computer might be a good deal. I can not carry it around though for long my bum shoulder starts swelling and hurting. LOL  I think I got it from carrying so much junk in my laptop bag.
