    Hello all...
I'm a newbie and this q has probably been asked 1,000,000,000 times, but here it is again. I would like to know what LT is right for me (er, um, my wife). i have it narrowed down to the E1505 with intel core duo processor 2300 or the like a high end basic inspiron B130 with the Pentium M. Both cost about the same but that doesn't really tell me very much about the technical stuff.
You see, "I am a computer dummy" meaning i am on a computer every day all day at work...i know our business softwares and a fair amount of stuff about MS software products, but i don't know the difference from Pentium M vs an AMD64, or a P3 or P4.....i don't know the difference between video cards and sound blasters, i don't know the differences between duo or single processor, 2300, 2400, 2500.....i think you get the picture.
The reason for this post is that i am forced to get my wife a new laptop. We have had one PC (a g-way) here at home and although it has lived a good long life, it's time that we retire the P3 700MH and get into the 21st century. Its intended use is mostly wireless internet surfing (unfortunately we are on high speed DSL not cable), light work application, music CDs and DVD videos, and not much in the line of gaming .
The reason for the laptop is the portability. The reason i'm considering a DELL is because that is what we use at work (my latitude C640 has been working fine for about 3 yrs although the bugger is starting to heat up and slow down after extended periods of use lin 7a to 7p) and they seem to be a relatively durable unit and it's a name i've grown to trust.

So, i guess in short my question is this...which machine is better for wireless surfing, descent screen (and we do like a 15+ inch screen), and good speed.
I don't know if this is a very good question, but i'd like to get some opins from this forum.
    Thank you in advance

Right now the best notebook CPU is the Core Duo. A few hundred MHz won't make much of a differnce for what you are doing. Latitudes will offer much better quality than Inspirons. Plus you'll get a three year warranty and US based support. Something like the D820 would fit. Perhaps you should consider the FAQ and post back.
