If i want to buy a Studio in the website of dell, it only says Studio 15. I'd like to know if this Studio 15 is the Studio 1555, 1535 or whatever, or just another model, and what are the differences.
Thanks

If you buy a Studio 15 new from Dell, it's going to be a 1555. The 1535, 1536, and 1537 are all discontinued.
The 1535-1537 models all shared the same chassis, with a 15.4" display, and touch-sensitive media keys. The differences between these were: the 1535 was an Intel Santa Rosa-based laptop, with the 965 series chipset. The 1536 was an AMD variant. The 1537 was also Intel, but on the newer Montevina platform, with the 45 series chipset.
The 1555 is also Montevina and has the 45 chipset, but is physically changed slightly. Its display is 15.6" to allow for 16:9 ratio HDTV resolutions. It does not have touch-sensitive keys, and instead maps all of their functions to the F1-F12 keys. It also has an improved integrated sound system with an onboard subwoofer. -
It is quite confusing.... haha I know I was confused. Here I was reading about the touch buttons and the poor speakers and all... but no... wrong computer...
Most of the people commenting on the Dell website are noobs.. They are reviewing the wrong computer.
Example... "I first got my Studio 15 in December 2008." "The touch buttons becomes unresponsive at startup for quite sometime and the cd\dvd eject button keeps on glowing."
It's stupid... they are reviewing the wrong computer.... but the reviews still show for the 1555... -
Dell needs to reset those.
The Studio 1555 should be considered a different laptop with its own pros/cons than the older model. -
Thank you, yes this is confusing, and one of the things that make me doubt about the Studio 15 was all the bad comments about the touch-sensitive keys, but with this off the table I can focus in the important issues, like performance.
@Manofest: Your configuration is almost the same i was thinking to buy. How it is working?
What is the Studio 15?
