I been looking at the E1705 for a while now, I'm just waiting for the price to get a little cheaper- however with this specs i dunno if the price will go down anytime soon.
Here are the specs:
Intel duo Duo Processor T2500 (2GHz/667MHz FSB)
17 inch UltraSharp Wide Screen UXGA Display with TrueLife
1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz
256MB NVIDIA® GeForce Go 7900 GS
100GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
8x CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability
80 WHr 9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery
1Yr Ltd Warranty, 1Yr Mail-In Service, and 1Yr HW Warranty Support
Right now the price is around $2000 (with $750 off) but I'm trying to get it down to mid $1700. I want to know if this is possible within the next few weeks? Or tell me how through EPP or ebay coupons, fat wallet...etc.

Well I got the T2400 and 6 cell and slow memory with 1 year in house for around $1360 including $20 tax? The faster memory has a higher CAS rating so did not opt for that and you can ebay cheaper batteries. You should have gotten the 2500 for the same price as my 2400.
bought 5/18/06 with the 750 coupon. -
You can get something like this for under $1700 it also came with a free wireless router. I just configured one on dell.com and got $1722 after the $750 coupon. But, you can do better than that. If you have an ebay account you can buy a 35% off coupon for just a few bucks and that would bring the cost down to just over $1600. Then buy an additional stackable $35 off coupon on ebay also. This brings the price down to about $1575. Then go to www.fatwallet.com and sign up for an account to get a 3% rebate for your dell purchase. Also pay with a dell preferred account to save another 2%. Do all this and you could get it for under $1500! This is the best deal I know of right now.... Good luck and let me know if you have any questions...

I thought the dell preferred account was a bad thing since it has high interest.

It's bad if you don't qualify for the no interest for 6 months. But as long as you pay it off right away you will not be charged interest.
What is the cheapest for this rig?
