I ordered the 1505 Core DUO, but the sticker on the unit says Centrino Duo - is this the same thing or what?
-
Yes. Centrino is a package consisting of the Core Duo, Intel chipset and Intel Wifi card. If you selected the Intel 3945 wireless card, then you get the Centrino sticker, if you select the Dell Wifi card, you get the regular Core Duo sticker.
In the end its the same thing. Just gets the different branding. -
yeah what miner said. Intel Centrino is a platform consisting of these fallowing things:
1) Intel Centrino M : A Pentuim M Processor+Intel Chipset+Intel Wifi Card
2) Intel Centrino Solo: Core Solo Processor+ Intel Chipset+ Intel Wifi Card
3) Intel Centrino Duo: Core Duo Processor+Intel Chipset+Intel Wifi Card.
so if you buy all three of the things your system is centrino certified, if you leave one of the things out..like the WiFi card, then your system is not centrino certified..
its just intel's way of making more money... -
Whew, that's a relief, thanks. I already have 2 1505's sitting here and have to return one tomorrow. I got one with WXGA screen, and then I ordered one with the upgraded WSXGA screen (along with a few other upgrades) and wanted to compare them side by side. If I start obsessing about anything else with this system, my wife will kill me

the E1505 is a good sysytem. congrats on your purchase!
hope the centrino stuff is cleared up for you! -
so does it perform better having Core Duo Processor+Intel Chipset+Intel Wifi Card or just a core duo processor without intel stuff?
-
Yep it is the same thing
What is the difference between the Core DUO and Centrino DUO?
