I ordered a Dell E1505 and I didn't even think about the sound card. What is the onboard sound like for music and movies? I don't think it matters since I placed the order last night and will probably not be able to do anything about it. I suppose that is why you shouldn't make orders late at night.![]()

I was very positively surprised with the 6400(e1505) sound. In my tiny bedroom, it is quite good enough to watch movies, for listening to music I don't even need to put the volume to max.
The only laptop I can compare to, is the Latitude 600 what we had in our office, and the sound of this one is really lousy.
P.S. Made my order also late at night, not regretting it yet -
It sounds suprisingly good. -
Thanks... ...you laid my worries to rest. This will be my first notebook in a very long time so I had no idea what to expect.

I ordered the sound blast
it's pretty good!
In my mind it's just 20$ -
I blew it and forgot to get the Soundblaster...
but the sound is pretty good! Lucky for us -
I highly recommend NOT getting the Audigy upgrade. I have (well, had) it on my E1705 and it was actually causing more problems than it was improving the sound quality. Not only that, but it appears to be only a software upgrade.
e.g. While playing Oblivion, the 3D audio was terrible and all sounds, both near and far, were the same (very loud) volume. Also, it seems to limit the number of sounds that can be played simultaneously.
After uninstalling all of the Sound Blaster components, everything works fine.
