What is with dell?

Ok ten hours ago, my inspiron 1520 (midnight blue, t7500) was still in production and i checked it this morning and it was suddenly shipped, 2 weeks before the eta! i dont understand this nor why mine gets here two weeks early and others get delayed, any ideas?

 

Because it looks like they got in a shipment of blue lids and so they do all the blue lid orders before any other ones with different colors.

 

Great... I got a yellow lid. =/

 

Congrats.. mine still in "boxing" stage.. I keep hoping for shipping today or tomorrow.

It seems like the delays for the 1400 and 1500 series aren't severe... I find it interesting that people call back and talk to different sales reps and they all have a different song and dance every time.

See, that's the whole problem though. So let's say I have a green lid Insprion on order, which I do, and I placed my order way ahead of you (July 4th so I think thats a definite yes). Now they get the blue lids and ship those and use all the other components to fill those orders. When the green lids finally show up, they can be out of the other components they used to fill the blue lid orders and I'm double screwed over.

They don't look at it that way though. They are just trying to get as many out as they possibly can, which makes good business sense.
